Triple planetary crisis, green recovery top agenda at AMCEN
Nairobi, 16 September 2021 – Meeting this week virtually at the 18th session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN), 54 African Environment Ministers agreed to step-up the continent’s response to accelerate the green and sustainable recovery programme to tackle the triple crisis of climate change, loss of biodiversity, and pollution.

New online portal launched to showcase African green recovery projects
A new Web-based platform, which will showcase green stimulus projects across Africa, has been officially launched.
The portal, which can be found at http://agsp.nepad.org/, was unveiled this week by South Africa’s Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment Minister Barbara Creecy in her capacity as outgoing president of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN).
Online African COVID-19 green stimulus programme launched
Securing and restoring livelihoods should be top of the agenda in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, an African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) has resolved.
It is against this backdrop that an online platform for the African Green Stimulus Programme has been launched to provide an overarching framework to support the “green recovery” from COVID-19.
